I suppose my love of home cooked food started while I was growing up in Florida. We were lucky enough to have my maternal grandma live with us for several years. Many-a-day my siblings and I would have the pleasure of coming home from school to the aroma of homemade goodies. I can still remember smelling the warm bread and rolls, fresh from the oven, and watching my grandma rub the tops with a stick of butter! Every evening we sat down as a family and had a big supper, including meat, potatoes, bread and of course dessert.

Although I was always interested in eating great food my interest in cooking started a few years after college while I was living in Boston. There were so many fabulous restaurants and I was determined to try them all. It was also at this time that Julia Child was a national phenomenon and she was cooking and food shopping just mere miles from where I lived. Julia and the local food scene were such an inspiration to me. I started cooking and baking at home and soon discovered this to be one of my greatest passions. Ever since then I have continued to deepen my love for “creating” in the kitchen. Now, with a husband and 3 children, it is a true pleasure for me to prepare homemade meals for my family.

Through the years I have come to appreciate the power that food and home cooking have to heal both body and soul. If we look at food from a scientific stance we measure its capability to fuel us – the calorie. But we know it is so much more! It’s pleasure, it’s excitement, it can cheer us up and best of all it can bring us together, often with those we love.

My passion for everything “food” has given me direction. I’m determined to live a wonderfully healthy life and to inspire my children to do the same. The choices I make in the kitchen are about creating my own small miracles for my family at each meal.
